ABOUT US
Lean On Us Unity (LOUU) was originally founded in July 2012 as a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) based in Springfield, Virginia, with the vision of developing a transitional housing facility (Inbound Program) to primarily serve pregnant teens within the foster care system.
The original plan was to establish service contracts with the Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) in Washington, D.C., and the Department of Social Services (DSS) in Northern Virginia to support this often-overlooked population.
However, after conducting an in-depth study of teen pregnancy rates in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, the founders discovered that the need for support services for pregnant teens extended far beyond those involved in foster care.
In response, they amended their original business plan to broaden their mission and provide specialized programs and wraparound services to communities where teen pregnancy rates were highest.
As a result, Lean On Us Unity House of Faith 501(c)(3)was established as a nonprofit organization, dedicated to empowering pregnant teens and young mothers through therapeutic support, housing, mentorship, and community-based resources.
Today, the for-profit entity of Lean On Us Unity, Lean On Us Unity Childcare Center, serves as a safe haven for the children of our target population, while Lean On Us Unity House of Faith works directly with pregnant teens, young adult, and single mothers, helping them build stability, confidence, and a path toward self-sufficiency.
